From Village Grounds to College Campuses: Yuvodaya Volunteers Inspire Communities Through Yoga June 21, 2026 | Chhattisgarh
As the first rays of the sun touched the ground on International Yoga Day, hundreds of people across Chhattisgarh rolled out their mats not just to practice yoga, but to celebrate a shared commitment to health, harmony, and well-being.
From the villages of Janjgir-Champa to the bustling district headquarters of Jashpur and the college campus of Dongargaon in Rajnandgaon, Yuvodaya volunteers came together with communities to transform the occasion into a people’s movement. Their message was simple yet powerful: Yoga belongs to everyone.
A Morning of Unity Across Janjgir-Champa
In Janjgir-Champa, the district-level celebrations organized by the District Administration witnessed enthusiastic participation from Yuvodaya Hasdeo Hero Volunteers. But their efforts extended far beyond the main venue.
Across several Gram Panchayats, volunteers gathered children, youth, women, and elderly community members in schools, community spaces, and open grounds. With every stretch, breath, and posture, they shared conversations about physical health, mental well-being, and the importance of adopting healthy habits in everyday life.
Laughter echoed through the fields as children attempted yoga poses, while women and elderly participants joined with equal enthusiasm. What began as a one-day event soon became a moment of connection and collective learning.
By the end of the day, more than 800 people across the district had participated in yoga sessions facilitated by Yuvodaya volunteers, reaffirming that wellness grows stronger when practiced together.
Jashpur Celebrates Wellness with Collective Spirit
In Jashpur, the Community Hall became a vibrant hub of energy and mindfulness as district officials, partners, and citizens gathered for a grand celebration of International Yoga Day.
The programme was graced by Minister *Rajesh Agrawal*, along with the District Collector, Senior Superintendent of Police, Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat, Additional Superintendent of Police, SDM, and other officials. Their presence underscored the importance of promoting healthy lifestyles at every level of society.
Behind the scenes, teams from the Department of Social Welfare, District Administration, Police Administration, UNICEF, Agricon, and Jai Ho Jashpur worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event.
As participants moved in unison through each asana, the atmosphere reflected more than physical exercise—it symbolized balance, positivity, and the collective aspiration for healthier communities.
Inspiring Young Minds in Rajnandgaon
Meanwhile, at Government Dr. Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar College in Dongargaon, Rajnandgaon, a different but equally inspiring scene unfolded.
In collaboration with My Bharat Rajnandgaon, Yuvodaya volunteers organized a yoga session aimed at encouraging young people to embrace wellness as part of their daily lives. Guided by SBC Consultant Mr. Vinod Tembhukar, the session brought together 15 Yuvodaya volunteers and 35 students and faculty members.
For many participants, the event was more than just a series of exercises—it was a reminder that discipline, focus, and inner peace are as important as academic success. Through breathing techniques and mindful movements, students experienced firsthand how yoga can nurture both body and mind.
More Than a Celebration
Across these three districts, International Yoga Day became much more than a ceremonial event. It became a reminder that small actions—practiced consistently—can lead to healthier individuals and stronger communities.
Through the dedication of Yuvodaya volunteers and the enthusiastic participation of citizens, yoga emerged not merely as an ancient practice but as a bridge connecting generations, communities, and aspirations.
As the day concluded, one message echoed across every gathering:
"Yoga is not just about flexibility of the body; it is about creating balance in life, fostering positive thinking, and building healthier communities together."
And on this International Yoga Day, communities across Chhattisgarh proved that when people breathe together, they grow stronger together.
