Sunday Greens: A Journey of Hope and Planting with Aditi Jangde
Aditi Jangde, a dedicated NSS and UNICEF volunteer from EVPG College in Korba, Chhattisgarh, has embarked on a unique mission to address the depleting tree cover in her region. Recognizing the alarming rate of deforestation and its impact on the environment, she initiated a campaign with the slogan, "Every Sunday, Plant a Tree."
In her heartfelt narrative, Aditi emphasizes the urgent need to combat the shrinking green cover and shares her personal journey in this green initiative. Inspired by her father's lifelong passion for trees, she collected saplings of peepal, banyan, and neem, preserving them in plastic bags. Undeterred by rain and adverse weather conditions, Aditi and her father planted these saplings in suitable locations, carefully nurturing them to ensure their growth.
Not stopping there, Aditi also planted seeds of almonds, mangoes, berries, custard apples, and tamarinds, extending the diversity of the plant life. She meticulously documented this journey, sharing her efforts on social media to inspire others. Her program gained momentum, and soon, Aditi involved her fellow students in the plantation drive, fostering a sense of environmental responsibility among them.
Aditi's story serves as a compelling example of grassroots environmental activism. With a vision of turning every Sunday into a day of tree planting, she hopes to encourage today's youth to embrace a deep love for the environment. Through her dedicated efforts, Aditi dreams of creating a ripple effect where every young individual contributes to keeping our Earth forever green and vibrant.
