"Aaj kya seekha?" - Innovative Education Program in Janjgir Champa

In the heart of Chhattisgarh's Janjgir Champa district, a groundbreaking initiative has taken root, promising to revolutionize the role of parents in their children's education. Spearheaded by UNICEF and bolstered by the tireless efforts of over a thousand youth volunteers from Yuvoday: Hasdeo ke Heroes, this innovative program marks a paradigm shift in the landscape of education in India.

At its core lies a simple yet powerful concept: "Aaj Kya Seekha?" Translating to "What did you learn today?" in English, this phrase encapsulates the essence of the initiative. Parents are encouraged to engage with their children daily, fostering a culture of curiosity and continuous learning within the confines of their homes. Additionally, they are inspired to carve out a dedicated space – a "Seekhne ka Kona" or learning corner – where educational exploration can flourish.

The program's launch was graced by Chief Guest Shri OP Chaudhary, who underscored the pivotal role of education in paving the path to prosperity. He emphasized the need for a more empowered youth populace to lead the state towards national prominence.

Job Zachariah, Chief of UNICEF Chhattisgarh, hailed the program as a potential model for the nation, citing research that underscores the profound impact of parental involvement on children's educational outcomes. By actively participating in their children's learning journey, parents not only enhance academic performance but also foster essential life skills, confidence, and social aptitude.

Echoing this sentiment, Aakash Chikara, District Magistrate, and Collector, reaffirmed the district administration's unwavering commitment to catalyzing positive change. He commended the dedication of the youthful volunteers from "Hasdeo ke Heroes," whose grassroots efforts are instrumental in mobilizing communities towards embracing critical behaviors related to education, health, and nutrition.

In the verdant landscapes of Janjgir Champa, a beacon of hope shines bright, illuminating the path towards a brighter future for generations to come. Through collaborative endeavors and unwavering determination, the community stands poised to rewrite the narrative of education, one "Aaj Kya Seekha?" at a time.
