Chhattisgarh Launches a Youth-Led Movement to Engage 5 Lakh Adolescents Across the State
Menstruation is not just a health issue — it is deeply connected with dignity, confidence, equality, and social respect. Yet, for years, conversations around periods have remained limited by silence, hesitation, and stigma. Challenging these barriers and encouraging open dialogue, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Chhattisgarh, in collaboration with UNICEF, has launched the #TarunyaVarta #PeriodsParKhulkar campaign.
The campaign aims to engage nearly 5 lakh adolescents associated with Scouts & Guides across Chhattisgarh and create a powerful youth-led movement that promotes awareness, understanding, and positive conversations around menstrual health and hygiene.
At the heart of the campaign lies the belief that menstruation is not only a women’s issue, but a societal issue that requires participation from everyone — adolescents, parents, teachers, communities, institutions, and policymakers alike. The initiative also creates an important opportunity to engage men and boys in conversations around menstruation and encourage dialogue on critical community platforms where such discussions are often missing.
Through schools, community outreach activities, youth-led discussions, awareness drives, and the extensive network of Scouts & Guides, the campaign aims to take the message of #PeriodsParKhulkar to every corner of the state.

As part of the initiative, campaign delegations led by young champions are reaching out to thought leaders and key stakeholders across the state to build greater awareness and collective ownership around menstrual health and dignity. In pursuit of this vision, Hon’ble Governor Shri Ramen Deka Ji, Deputy Chief Minister & Home Minister Shri Vijay Sharma Ji, and MLA Smt. Bhawna Bohra Ji advocated the need to openly talk about such important subjects and extended their full support to the campaign.
The campaign will focus on menstrual hygiene management, myth-busting, scientific awareness, positive behaviour change, and creating safe and respectful spaces for conversations among adolescents and communities. By involving families, community leaders, educators, and policymakers, the initiative seeks to normalize discussions around menstruation and ensure that no adolescent feels shame or hesitation while speaking about their health and well-being.
With the energy of young people and the strength of community participation, Bharat Scouts & Guides, Chhattisgarh is working towards transforming #PeriodsParKhulkar into a mass movement — one that encourages openness, empathy, dignity, and informed conversations around menstruation across society.
