SROUTs Journey of Transforming Lives in Chhattisgarh

SROUTs Journey of Transforming Lives in Chhattisgarh

Social Revival Group of Urban Rural and Tribal (SROUT), a grassroots non-governmental organization, has been a beacon of positive change in Chhattisgarh, India. Since its inception in 1999, SROUT has been dedicated to uplifting livelihoods, education, and health for underprivileged rural and urban communities, without discrimination based on residence or caste.

The journey began as SROUT became the implementing agency of CARE India Integrated Nutrition and Health Program in Korba district. True to its name, the organization committed itself to collaborate with local communities, transcending geographical and caste boundaries.

In collaboration with UNICEF and We the People Foundation, SROUT orchestrated a series of impactful initiatives. During World Breastfeeding Week, five one-day workshops were conducted in Korba and Katghora blocks, reaching over 270 women. Through informative videos and discussions, pregnant women and infant mothers were educated on crucial topics like breastfeeding, kangaroo mother care, and nutrition.

In the campaign for Poshan Maah, SROUT aimed to create awareness about various health and nutrition aspects, including anemia, malnutrition, maternal and child health, adolescent health, and sanitation. The program strategically targeted the entire community, with a special emphasis on pregnant women, lactating mothers, adolescent girls, and Anganwadi workers. The result was the sensitization of more than 1100 women, fostering a community-wide understanding of essential health practices.

SROUT's success lies not just in the numbers but in the tangible positive behavior changes observed within the community. Through their relentless efforts, they have become a catalyst for societal transformation, demonstrating that grassroots initiatives can indeed bring about lasting change. SROUT continues to be a driving force, inspiring others to join the journey toward a healthier and more enlightened society.
